Welcome to Galileo Academy 101! This website contains all of the information you will need to get to know Galileo Academy 101 and all that makes this a special place to learn. Last year, our school received the California Distinguished school award. In order to be invited to apply for Distinguished School honors, schools must meet a variety of eligibility criteria including designated federal and state accountability measures based on No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), and the Academic Performance Index (API) requirements. Congratulations to our teachers and students for this extraordinary recognition!
Galileo Academy 101 prides itself on having three truly unique programs that help to meet the needs of different learners. Our GATE program is geared towards the Gifted and Talented students. Currently, we have three GATE classes for grades 3-6. The teachers are GATE trained and the GATE strategies are embedded throughout their instruction. The bilingual program is designed to help students to become proficient and advanced in both English and Spanish by the time they finish 6th grade. In this program, the students loop with the same teachers each year. Our third program is our Independent Study program. The staff works closely with the parents in lesson planning, instruction and assessments. Many of our Independent Study students also participate in a 2-day in seat program where they can get additional instruction.
Galileo Academy 101 is a wonderful place to teach and learn. A great contributor to the schools' greatness is the strong support from the parents and guardians, the school personnel, district administration and the board of education. The collaborative effort among all the constituents is critical to our advancement.
It is a great pleasure to be Principal of a school where students, staff, parents and caregivers work together to promote learning, cooperation, respect and environment for all members of the school community.
