Resource Specialist Program (RSP)

The Resource Specialist Program at Galileo Academy is designed to assist students who have difficulty in the areas of reading, mathematics, and written language. Specifically developed curriculum is used to provide students with alternative methods of learning and performing in the classroom.

The Resource Specialist Program (RSP) services the entire school community in different ways. Students faced with academic challenges receive services through RSP. These services are provided to prevent student failure. Each child's specific learning needs are addressed through an IEP (Individual Education Plan).

Students identified as having a Specific Learning Disability receive academic support from the RSP in one-on-one settings, a small group, or in the classroom. RSP teachers are flexible and capable of instructing, both in the classroom, or through a pull out program. The teachers and RSP collaborate to create an optimal program to promote self-esteem and achievement in academics through the use of multisensory strategies and modified assignments.

The Resource Specialist is available for consultation with other teachers in the area of assessment, instruction, behavioral questions, or curriculum adaptation.
